Frontière Natural Meats Now Has Vegan Options
Frontière Natural Meats is proud to introduce Hold the Beef, a separate retail line completely free of animal products. Hold the Beef offers an alternative to traditional patties and ground meat, specially designed for those who want a plant-based food alternative.
You may be scratching your head. A meat processing company that also makes vegan products? We know it’s a bit unusual. But with more demand for vegan options that honor animal welfare and meet our customers’ evolving needs, it was just the right thing to do.
Our goal is to offer something for everyone. We strive to serve our customers and their families with high-quality food options, whether that’s organic ground beef or no-meat meatloaf. We aren’t here to tell you what to eat. Instead, we simply offer a variety of choices to suit your needs. Offering vegan foods is one way we hope to do just that.
What does it mean to eat vegan?
Following a vegan diet means eating no animal products whatsoever. As with vegetarianism, being vegan means avoiding meat such as beef or chicken. Some vegetarians eat eggs and fish.
A vegan diet also means eliminating anything that comes from an animal, like milk, butter, cheese, eggs, fish, bone broth or gelatin. Vegan eating is sometimes referred to as a plant-based diet.
People might follow a vegan diet occasionally or religiously. Some people choose to eat one vegan meal each week.
Why follow a vegan diet?
Eating vegan food, or following a plant-based diet, means different things to different people. For many, it has to do with animal welfare. Eating vegan means partaking in no animal products whatsoever, which means no animals are harmed for the sake of human food.
Plant-based foods are also much easier on the environment. According to Sustainability at UCLA, it takes anywhere from 2,000 to 8,000 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. On the other hand, a pound of tofu requires only 302 gallons of water to produce. In fact, The Independent cited an Oxford study indicating that eliminating meat and dairy products from your diet could reduce your carbon footprint from food by up to 73%.
Why try vegan food, even occasionally?
Eating meat is an enjoyable part of life for many people — including our team at Frontière Natural Meats! Of course, the adage “everything in moderation” is applicable when it comes to food. Harvard Medical School suggests limiting red meat consumption can lower associated health risks over time. For example, treating meat as a luxury and eating it only a few times a week or less can make a positive difference in your overall health. Choosing plant-based foods even some of the time can be a step in a positive direction for both personal well-being and environmental sustainability. The rest of the time, try to choose high-quality meat from local sources when possible.
What is Hold the Beef?
Hold the Beef is owned and operated by the same family that started Frontière Natural Meats in Colorado. Years of experience as a traditional meat processor lent strong values of quality, health and affordability. But more than that, Frontière Natural Meats’ owners are constantly seeking new opportunities for sustainability and inclusiveness — and that extends to the vegan community.
Frontière Natural Meats launched Hold the Beef so that vegans and those who follow a plant-based diet can enjoy high-quality vegan meals without sacrificing animal welfare, quality or taste. Hold the Beef vegan-friendly products are made from soy concentrate and wheat gluten, with no trans fats and plenty of vitamins and minerals. For flavor, we add onions, garlic, and black pepper. Beets enhance the product’s color, making it as visually appealing as meat — important for those using Hold the Beef as a meat replacement.
Hold the Beef products are ideal for those looking for a healthful, high-quality meat replacement. Use the plant-based burger patties as a replacement for beef burgers, or cook our vegan ground into your favorite pot of chili or during your usual taco night. The texture and flavor make it an ideal beef alternative to work into your meal rotation.
