Frontière Natural Meats offers organic elk ribeye steaks, an excellent choice for cooking red meat on the grill. Use generous salt and pepper, then sear the steak over high heat to lock in the flavor and tenderness. Then, cook over indirect heat (to the side of the hottest flames) until reaching the desired temperature. We recommend at least 135 degrees Fahrenheit for medium rare. Be sure to let the steak rest before serving.

Elk Ribeye Steak Recipe

Serves 1-2

Ingredients

Frontière Natural Meats elk ribeye steak (10 oz. each)

Freshly ground sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method

First, remove the steaks from the refrigerator approximately 30 minutes before cooking.

Then, season the steaks with the rub of your choice. We suggest seasoning liberally with salt and pepper on all sides.

Preheat the grill. We like using a gas grill for simplicity's sake, and to more easily control the flame. Create a high-heat zone and a low-heat zone where you can sear the meat then move the steaks off the flame to finish cooking.

After a few minutes of preheating, set the ribeye steaks on the grill, directly over the high-heat side. Sear the meat for 3 minutes. Then, flip the steaks and cook for 3 minutes on the other side.

Once the steaks reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit, move them off the heat for another 2 minutes before rechecking the temperature. Remove from the grill once they reach 135 degrees.

Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
