James Viola got an early start in the meat business. Born and raised in the panhandle of Nebraska, he grew up working on his aunt’s cattle ranch. After moving to Colorado in the early 1990s, he spent 15 years developing strong relationships in the grocery retail business as he pursued his interests in creating a meat company that prioritized ethics and family. He founded Frontière Natural Meats in 2009 with his sons, Josh and Cody.
A Nebraska native but a Coloradoan at heart, Joshua Viola is the co-founder and Vice President of Frontière Natural Meats and oversees marketing and publicity. He holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees. Beyond his daily duties at Frontière, he is an award-winning fiction writer and artist. Barnes & Noble named his 2016 publication, Cyber World, one of the best science fiction anthologies that year. A former video game designer (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Denver Post bestselling author, Josh’s most recent work is his children’s book, Boomer and Friends!—a story about a young bison making his way through the Colorado landscape in search of his herd.
Cody Viola was born in the panhandle of Nebraska and is Vice President and co-founder of Frontière Natural Meats. He directs production and the Quality Assurance team. When he’s not working, you can usually find him spending time with his daughter or cruising the Rocky Mountain roads on his Harley Davidson.
Mike Hutchinson, Manager at Frontière Natural Meats, has been with the company since 2011. He works with the Operations, Export, Transportation, IT, and Facility management. His previous experience as an Operations Manager with a technical background brings great value to the team.
Hector Orozco joined Frontière Natural Meats in 2011 as the Warehouse Manager. He has been working in the meat industry since the late 90s. Hector is a native from Mexico and, as a child, enjoyed helping his father harvest corn and apples. In 2006, he received his U.S. citizenship and became a father to his son, Hector Jr.
Tony Salazar was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated with the class of 1976. Tony has worked in the meat industry for 42 years and his specialty is in Food Safety. He is the SQF (Safe Quality Food) Practitioner for Frontière Natural Meats.
Michael McKibben grew up in Missouri in a family with a long history of farming and engineering, but his passion for art and design led him to Colorado, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Game Art and Design. That, coupled with a penchant for rules and regulations, led him to become Frontière’s Marketing Lead and head of Label Compliance. In his free time, he likes to play the piano, visit local breweries, and make video games and animations through his company, Killbot Entertainment.
Aaron Lovett is an award-winning artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UCD (CU Denver). He is the lead artist at Frontière Natural Meats and is responsible for the company’s iconic art featured on product labels. His work has been featured by Dark Horse Comics and published in Spectrum 22 and 24, a best-selling, annual printed collection of the best in contemporary fantastic art worldwide. Casandra Sanchez joined the meat industry in 2012 working for a large beef supplier. There, she wore various hats until specializing in beef export documentation. She eventually joined Frontière Natural Meats with plans of building a stable foundation for her daughter and herself. After three years at Frontière, she continues to grow with the company as the newest member in the accounting department and learning more about the agricultural world.
Thalia Soriano is the newest member of the Frontière team. She was born in Mexico and raised in Denver after receiving her U.S. citizenship. With her experience working in the food industry and label compliance, Thalia is a great asset to the company. She continues to strive and learn more about the meat industry.
