Ground Elk Meat Nachos Recipe
Have you cooked with ground elk meat before? If you haven't, here's a great opportunity to try it out. Along with ground beef, ground bison, ground chicken and vegan plant-based ground, Frontière Natural Meats offers ground elk meat as one of its most popular all-natural products.
We love cooking with ground meat because it's simple and approachable. In fact, cooking with ground elk meat is a great way to start bringing elk meat into your normal dinner rotation.
Why cook with elk meat? Elk is an excellent way to incorporate a beef alternative into your red-meat-friendly diet. It's high in protein and low in cholesterol. Plus, it's easy to use in most of your favorite ground meat recipes.
Why elk nachos? As we've said before, we love nachos. They're salty, cheesy, crunchy, spicy and infinitely customizable. We see nachos as an all-round crowd pleaser and a go-to weeknight meal.
Wondering how to cook nachos with elk meat? Simply start with a 16-ounce package of our All Natural Ground Elk Meat. Thaw it completely in the refrigerator. Brown the meat in a heavy skillet, adding in diced peppers and onions. Then add your desired seasoning. We love Savory Spice Taco Seasoning blend, with the right amount of flavor and not too much spice.
Next comes the fun part: layering the chips and cheese! For additional texture and flavor, add extras like black olives, canned green chiles, or black beans. Cook for 15 minutes in the oven and there you have it: ground elk meat nachos.
Make it extra easy and order an Elk Tacos Meal Kit. Of course, you can make elk tacos as well. Making nachos is just our fun variation!

Ground Elk Meat Nachos from Frontière Natural Meats
Makes 4-6 servings
Ingredients
1 16-oz pack of Frontière Natural Meats All Natural Ground Elk
4 tbsp Savory Spice taco seasoning
1 cup water
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 white onion, diced
Black beans (about 8 oz or half a can)
12 oz grated cheddar cheese
Tortilla chips (about 6 oz)
Method
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Heat a medium skillet over medium heat, then add 1 Tbsp olive oil. Add the ground elk meat, onions and peppers and cook, breaking up the meat and stirring frequently with a wooden spatula.
Once the meat is browned, sprinkle on the taco seasoning and water (according to the package instructions) and stir in thoroughly. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the meat mixture to reduce and thicken. Add black beans to the mix.
Now it's time to build the nachos. Start with a layer of chips, then spread the elk meat mixture on top. Cover it all with the grated cheese.
Place the baking dish in the oven and cook for 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling. Serve topped with guacamole, sour cream and salsa.
